Seattle Sounders FC recently announced that it has become the first carbon neutral professional soccer club in MLS and North America! Our firm, Sustainable Business Consulting, is pleased to have worked with Sounders FC to reach this historic achievement.
Sustainable Business Consulting aided in calculating the organization’s greenhouse gas emissions, implementing emissions reduction strategies, and coordinating the purchase of carbon offsets.
Seattle Sounders FC has a long history of supporting sustainability. They are committed to being a leader in sustainability in MLS and were a founding member of the Green Sports Alliance. They continue to support the MLS WORKS Greener Goals initiatives and were one of the first teams in MLS to wear the adidas eco-friendly kits during Earth Day weekend as part of the global adidas X Parley initiative. Through these initiatives, MLS also supports investments in carbon offsets and community service to support nature preservation.
