  1. Jeff Bezos Commits $10 Billion to New Bezos Earth Fund

Despite Amazon’s troubled history with corporate responsibility and climate initiatives, Bezos’ most recent announcement is nothing to sneeze at.  The commitment comes from increased pressure from Amazon employees on current contributions to climate from Amazon.

JetBlue signed a sustainability-linked loan with BNP Paribas that requires JetBlue to align its strategic initiatives with its environmental, social and governance performance goals as part of Jet Blue’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.

  1. Kellogg’s to Stop Using “Unsustainable” Palm Oil

Kellogg has pledged to stop using “unsustainable” palm oil that claims to be better for the environment and prevents deforestation. It has agreed to strengthen palm oil and deforestation policies by sourcing from sustainably certified estates and plantations and working to ensure full traceability in its supply chain.

  1. 49% of World’s GDP Covered by Net Zero Targets

A new study from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, an English think-tank, found that 49% of the world’s annual GDP, over $39 trillion, is now covered with net-zero emissions targets. 121 nations have put actions in place to deliver on these targets in the given timeframe.

  1. Burberry Introduces “Carbon Insetting” and Creates a Regenerative Fund

Burberry announced that its Autumn/Winter 2020 runway show will be certified carbon neutral and it plans to create a Regeneration Fund to support a portfolio of “carbon insetting” projects to directly tackle the environmental impact of Burberry’s supply chain by promoting biodiversity, restoring ecosystems, and storing carbon.
